Does Shakeology Taste Good?

Insanity, The Asylum: DONE!

Put it in the books, my friends. Insanity Asylum is over and completed.

I’ve sent it home with my Uncle who’s in the last phase of P90X down in Indianapolis. He will bump up his cardio big time with this workout!

So, let me give you the pros and the cons to this workout.

Cons:
1. It’s just not fun to me! I like to workout, but I like to have fun when possible.

2. It’s not for the average person looking to exercise. If you are just starting out, don’t even think about it.

3. There isn’t a lot of demonstrating and guidance. I guessed on what dumbbells to use in the strength workout. (I used 10 lbs.)

4. Not much modification. There is a person who does each workout with a jump rope when one is needed, but not really any modifications for knee or joint problems.

Pros:

1. Short and intense. As a stay at home mom working my business and watching our neighbor’s children, I’m in need of a workout I can do at home and within a 45 minute period. The only workout that was longer was “Game Day” which only happened 3 times in the month.

2. Pushed me beyond my limits. I was comfortable with the workouts I was doing and really needed a challenge. This was it baby!

3. It’s only 30 days! Anyone can do something for 30 days! Just push play and get it done.

4. Team Sports. I really liked that he incorporated swimming, baseball, basketball, tennis, track, wrestling, distance running, football, and soccer (maybe even more?) into these workouts. I felt like I was on my college softball team again!

Do I recommend this workout for you?

Depends…if you are an elite athlete or you have trained with intense workouts and don’t have joint issues…then YES! Go for the push and do this! Such a feeling of accomplishment seeing myself improve on the Fit Test on day 30!

If you are looking for a fun workout or something a little less intense, I’d be happy to suggest some other options that I have found fun!

Next up….another round of Chalean Extreme, but this time in a hybrid with TurboFire. I’m excited to combine them!

Insanity Asylum, Day 19 – Game Day and Overtime

This was the second time that Game Day came up in the 30 day schedule.

I’m a former athlete. I played basketball and softball in high school and softball in college.

Drills and hard work are normal for me. I’m accustomed to that.

THIS workout takes it to a whole new level.

I’m not going to tell you it was “no big deal” or that it “wasn’t bad”.

In my opinion, it was KILLER.

The Game Day workout is 60 minutes long. It starts with a short warm up with the agility ladder (honestly, I’ve never done such intense warm ups before, lol).

Next comes a 6 minute mile run which consists of some high knees, kick backs on the butt, one arm down in a plank-like position while running “up hill”, and a sprint at the end. Don’t get tired yet!

Shaun T also includes, soccer kicking drills that build like a pyramid, tennis drills with the agility ladder, basketball lay up drills that also include a little bit of shot faking in the triple threat stance, basketball jump shot drills, swimming drills on the floor, wrestling moves, football drills with the agility ladder, long jumps with the agility ladder, speed skating drills (DANG), a few 100 meter dashes, and some pitching and hitting drills at the end with mountain climbers and vertical jumps incorporated into them.

I’m not kidding around, and Shaun T isn’t either. He tells you that from the beginning.

You know how on most workouts you can skip past the warning in the beginning? This one won’t let you!

I really enjoy this workout. It’s a great sweat, calorie burning workout.

If you are use to INTENSE workouts, give this one a try. It’s incredible. I can’t believe what it’s especially done for my core and my shoulders already.

Have you done the Asylum? What are your thoughts?

Insanity, the Asylum: End of Day 8

As a former high school and college athlete, drills are familiar territory.

Shaun T in the Asylum takes drills to the next level.

This workout is not for the weary. If you are dedicated and have a solid mind set as an athlete in training, this is the workout for you.

If you are just starting out, looking for a workout that’s fun and going to give you weight loss results, check out Turbojams, Slim in 6, or Body Gospel.

Even though I did not do the Insanity workout, I have no problem doing Asylum. I have done Turbofire twice and I did one month of P90X. I had all intentions of finishing P90X, but it got really boring, and as a stay at home mom running a business, those workouts were too long and too much concentration was on strength for me. No prior knowledge of Insanity seems to be necessary, as long as you’ve done intense cardio before.

Asylum is a lot of cardio. Even the strength is cardio. Yesterday, I did the Strength workout for the second time. I used 10 pound dumbbells through the whole workout. I didn’t need the chin up bar. I was able to use the dumbbells when some of them were doing the chin up bar.

My favorite (haha) drill is the pyramid push ups. So you do one biceps curl, then one push up. Two biceps curls, then two push ups. Three biceps curls, then three push ups. You keep building until he calls time..I’d say about a minute.

The Vertical Plyo workout and the Speed and Agility workout both use the ladder that is included with the program.
The ladder drills are by far my favorite in those workouts.

He even has you do push ups while taking your hand and reaching the opposite shoulder while in the up position of the push up (plank) as you move through the ladder.

I’m telling you…no walk in the park, but I’ve noticed a change in my shoulders, and hubby noticed a difference in my obliques.

This was just what I needed to jump start my summer. I started May 1st, and will be done with this by May 31. Love it.

In the old days as a teacher, these were the days of finishing up work done all year to prepare for the final day of school. I look at Asylum as the final push to prepare for summer!

I’m ready to use this speed and agility to run around chasing Anthony! Love being a stay-at-home mom!

If you have any questions, please let me know! As always, I’m happy to help!

Have you done Asylum? What are your thoughts so far?

Have you done Insanity? What’s the toughest part?

Have You Eaten Your Frog Yet This Week?

Brian Tracy is the author of Eat That Frog.

In his book he talks about time management, getting more done, and having more time to do what what’s most important to each individual on any given day.

I have incorporated many of his strategies into my every day life and what a difference it has made. He particularly talks about putting your biggest, ugliest, “i don’t want to do that” task first on your list of things to accomplish in the day. Take care of that before anything else. When you do, the rest of your day is a piece of cake.

We find that we can accomplish anything, and honestly, have accomplished more, by having done that task rather than just crossing off the little things on our list that mean little or nothing.

Earlier in the week I ate a HUGE frog! I was a teacher before our son Anthony was born 2 years ago. After having him, there was no doubt in my mind I wanted to be a stay at home mom.

I found Team Beachbody offered home business opportunities, and decided since I have had great results with their products, would love getting discounts on their products, and I didn’t have to carry inventory or have to hold home parties away from my already busy schedule, this was a no brainer.

I have enjoyed it so much that I want to expand working in this field. I thought about registering to get certified as a personal trainer.

That was awhile ago.

It was on my list, but I kept putting it off. Not this week.

First thing Monday morning…I registered for ACE personal trainer certification! Boy, what a great way to start the week!

So, my question to you is….what’s your frog? What is it that you have been putting off that will really make a difference once you take care of it? When will you accomplish it?

Do you write your goals down on paper weekly? Do you write a daily to do list? Does it just have tasks on it like: groceries, gas, laundry, pick up Johnny from soccer? Or does it contain those, plus tasks that will really move you in a positive direction towards your goals in life?

If you’d like, feel free to send me your frog. Often times, getting it down in writing really helps us stay accountable. It did for me!

If any of you are interested in more information with the income opportunities with Team Beachbody (and the 25% discount) send me a note too. I’m happy to help you.

Insanity: The Asylum, 30 Day Challenge

Losing weight, getting into the swimsuit, skinny jeans, capris, tank tops, and summer clothing! All things in my Spring Vocabulary!

This year was the first year that there was no yo-yo dieting, no weight gain in the winter, and no bloated depressive feelings setting in come March.

It’s April and I’m ready! But…always ready to push to DO MORE and be the best.

My dad always told me when I was living at home…never ever settle for what you have achieved. If you get comfortable, you’ll never improve. Many times that was annoying to hear when I wanted to celebrate an achievement, but he really helped me keep it “real”.

I have been loving loving loving my second round of Turbofire workouts. It fits me. It’s fun, has great music, and I can fit it into my morning routine before my full time job as Anthony’s teacher and stay-at-home mom kicks in.

The second round ends at the end of the month. I’m ready to kick it up and DO MORE!

I’m going to start Insanity: The Asylum. No, I haven’t done the 60 days of Insanity yet, but I’m jumping into the Asylum. Heck, I was a teacher, I can follow directions and stay on track! I’m jumping to new heights in my health!

I’m looking for others who want to do this with me! I am looking for others to check-in with virtually just to compare notes and keep me motivated!

Are you looking for an intense calorie burning cardio workout? Come on! Let’s do this!

Message me and let’s get ready for the beach by June the 1st baby!!
